On 1 July 2026, a public presentation of the Generic Strategic Model (GSM) for the development of research and development strategies in Bosnia and Herzegovina was held at the University of Sarajevo, organized within the Erasmus+ project RDBIH – Development of Research & Development Strategies and Centers in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The event, titled “Together towards Research and Development Strategies: Public Presentation of the Generic Strategic Model for BiH”, brought together representatives of the academic community, public sector, competent ministries, economy and civil society with the aim of presenting a model that will serve as a framework for the development of research and development strategies in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The participants were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović, Rector of the University of Sarajevo, and Prof. Dr. Naris Pojskić, Scientific Advisor and Vice-Rector for Research of the University of Sarajevo, who emphasized the importance of a systemic approach to the development of research and innovation, as well as the importance of cooperation between the academic community and institutions at all levels of government.
The attendees were then addressed by representatives of institutional partners: Prof. Dr. Dušanka Bošković, Minister for Science, Higher Education and Youth of Sarajevo Canton, Alisa Memić, MSc, Assistant Minister for Higher Education and Science at the Ministry of Education and Science of Tuzla Canton, Iva Čečura, Head of the Department for Normative-Legal, Administrative-Legal and General Affairs of the Ministry of Science, Education, Culture and Sports of Herzeg-Bosnia Canton, and Vlado Davidović, Head of the Department for Strategic Planning and Financing of Higher Education at the Ministry for Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska.
The Generic Strategic Model was presented by Prof. Dr. Maja Arslanagić-Kalajdžić, Director of the Center for Research and Development of the University of Sarajevo and RDBIH Project Leader from the University of Sarajevo. During the presentation, it was emphasized that the aim of the model is to provide a methodological framework that will enable institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina to develop high-quality and sustainable research and development strategies, adapted to their needs and development priorities.
Following the presentation, a moderated discussion was held, during which participants exchanged opinions, experiences and recommendations on the application of the Generic Strategic Model in existing and future strategic documents related to science and research in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was emphasized that the proposals and comments collected during the public discussion will contribute to the finalization of the model and its successful application in the process of developing research and development strategies in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
